The victims of this heartbreaking incident included a woman named Deiode Davies Garnett, her daughter Judee Garnett, Judee’s two young children, and her brother.

An emotional funeral ceremony was organised for the family, who were laid to rest together in one shared grave.

Before the final burial rites, the bodies were presented for viewing in open caskets, neatly arranged.

Judee was placed in a casket with her two children carefully positioned in her arms, while her mother and brother were laid in a separate casket.

How did Judee Garnett’s husband mourn?

In images and videos shared on social media, Judee’s husband, Emmanuel Freeman, could not contain his sorrow.

He cried bitterly upon seeing his entire family lying lifeless. Wearing a black t-shirt adorned with images of his family, he wailed loudly, bidding them a final goodbye.

He sat among the other mourners as a relative held him for comfort.

What happened to Judee Garnett’s family?

The five victims perished in the tragic fire at their residential home at around 11 pm. According to the Daily Observer, the blaze erupted suddenly and quickly engulfed the house.

Neighbours reported that the flames spread rapidly, trapping the family inside.

The house had reinforced doors and windows designed to prevent break-ins, making it difficult for anyone to access the family during the fire.
