KPLC Announces Areas in 10 Counties to Experience Power Interruptions on Wednesday, December 3

  • KPLC announced power interruptions in various parts of some 10 counties, including Kiambu and Nairobi
  • The scheduled maintenance will begin from 8am in some regions and end at 5pm in most of the affected counties
  • Kenya Power stated the reasons for the mandatory interruptions and urged residents in the affected areas to be prepared

Nairobi Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) is set to undertake system maintenance on Wednesday, December 3.

In a notice to Kenyans on Tuesday, December 2, Kenya Power said the operation will be undertaken in at least ten counties.

The utility firm said some Kenyans in the affected areas will be without electricity for at most nine hours starting at 8am.

1. Nairobi County

Area: Mihango (9am – 3pm)

Kenya Builders, Karagitha, part of Mihango, Comboni, Maono, Twiga, Kwa Kados, Medina, Royal Ambassadors and adjacent customers.

Area: Garage Road (9am – 3pm)

Garage Road and adjacent customers.

Area: Part of Rosslyn (9am – 5pm)

Canadian Embassy, the Residence of the American Embassy, Rosslyn Lone Tree and nearby customers.

2. Nakuru County

Area: Kabarak University and Mangu (9am – 5pm)

The whole of Kabarak University, Kabarak Guest House, Kabarak High School, Ka-barak Bakery, Upper Mangu, Maraga Farm, Ngata Kaptich, Kirobon AGC, Olrongai, Tulwobmoi, Marigo B, part of Rafiki Farm, Oloika, Raw Hide and adjacent customers.

3. Kericho County

Area: Kenegut Market (9am – 5pm)

Torsogik Dispensary, Mochorwa Dispensary, Moi Sitotwet and adjacent customers.

4. Bomet County

Area: Olpisiai, GK Prisons (8am – 5pm)

GK Prisons Kilgoris, Olpisai, Lolgorian, Mararianda, Kichwa Tembo, Angama, Partakilat, Mara Engai, Mara West, Angata Barrikoi, Gwitembe, Ol-donyorok, Masurura and adjacent customers.

5. Siaya County

Area: Usenge (9am – 5pm)

Usenge, Wangarot, Nyamunye, Jaramogi University, Wambasa, Uhanya and adjacent customers.

6. Nyeri County

Area: Kiangai, Kianwe (9am – 5pm)

10. Taita Taveta County

Area: Sir Ramson Primary (9am – 5pm)

In other news, Kenya Power announced the scrapping of all manual applications for new electricity connections.

The utility directed all customers to use its online platform in a move aimed at speeding up service delivery and strengthening transparency.

Kenya Power CEO Joseph Siror said the firm expects faster turnaround times, reduced opportunities for fraud, and greater convenience for its customers by digitising the process.

He noted that the new system would help eliminate scams involving impostors posing as company staff, ensuring that “the power of access” remains in the customers’ hands.
