Marucha’s mother, Sarah Owendi, recounted the horrifying events that unfolded on the night he was his son was killed.
She revealed that her son initially called to report his lost phone and asked her to replace his line moments before she received a chilling call that shattered her world.
“He told me that his phone was lost and asked me to go replace the line. Later, when I was called, I was told he had died, but I realised the phone hadn’t been lost; he had been grabbed by those young men who tricked him, telling him to come and collect his phone. I heard they put him in a car. The youths tried to follow that car, and they drove off,” she narrated.
Her daughter, Davin Marucha, described the gruesome discovery, recounting how her brother’s killers called to tell them of their heinous act
Davin said they left late in the night and true to ke killers’ words, they found hid brother’s lifeless remains as instructed.
According to Rogers’ mum, her son’s body had been drenched with alcohol, adding that he was also stabbed multiple times.
“He told me, “go to the sewage and collect your load, I’ve left it there.”And I went. I found my brother there in the sewage. He had been stabbed so many times you couldn’t even count. His whole body had been drenched in alcohol,” Owendi added.
Why did Nakuru gang kill Rogers?
The killing is believed to be linked to Marucha’s past, as he was previously a member of the dreaded Confirm Gang and was arrested in 2022.
After his release, Marucha relocated to Kisii to start anew, but each time he returned to Nakuru to visit his family, the gang reportedly hunted him down, punishing him for leaving.
The grief-stricken mum claimed that the gang had declined his decision to abandon their activities and make an honest living.
“When they had grabbed him, they said he was their leader. He had already walked away from that group. And you know how those groups are, once you’ve been part of them, and you leave, they don’t let you go,” Owendi added.
