While fans continue to mourn her, a different kind of storm has been brewing: Who should take custody of Betty’s kids now that she is no more?

What did Betty’s brother say about her kids’ custody debate?

During a recent TikTok Live session, Betty’s brother, Edward Kang’ethe Mbugua, shared little-known details about the events leading to her death.

According to him, the family learned of her deteriorating condition when it was already too late, at a point when she was fighting for her life in the hospital.

Mbugua also delved into the heated social media debate surrounding the future of Betty’s kids, Sky Victor and Danivictor, whom she shared with her former husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari.

Betty separated from Kanyari shortly after the infamous KSh 310 scandal. She went on to build a home with Tash at Edenville Estate, where they lived as a family.

However, despite the kids’ good relationship with Tash, Mbugua insisted that the children should remain in Kanyari’s custody.

“Our biggest interest is the kids and where they will live. You should not tell me that the kids have free will to decide where they will live. I think that Sky and Dani have a father who is alive, and he is alive. Kanyari, take your kids and let’s stop this circus that is happening. Let nobody tell me that we want to take them back to where Betty separated them from. It was Betty who split with Kanyari and not the kids; they have a good relationship to date. As a family, we want the kids to stay with their father because that is how it should be,” Mbugua said

Mbugua noted that when the kids reach legal age, they will be free to choose who they want to live with, but for now, it is not a decision they can be allowed to make.

He issued a warning saying:

“I do not think that there is anybody who has the right to leave the country with my sister’s kids, thinking that they can take them anywhere they want.”

He further disclosed that the ongoing debate has affected Kanyari emotionally, claiming that the preacher even recently contacted him to discuss the issue.

“We cannot disown Kanyari, he is own blood, we are joined by blood through those kids,” he added.

Mbugua added that Kanyari had seen Sky and Dani days after Betty’s passing. However, he did not enter her home and only met them at the estate gate.
