What happened to Hugh Wallace?

According to the BBC, Wallace died suddenly at his home on the evening of Monday, December 1.

His husband, Martin Corbett, took to Instagram to confirm the news, sharing a heartfelt message.

With deep sorrow and disbelief, I share that my beloved husband and soulmate, Hugh Wallace, passed away at home last night. I am heartbroken,” he wrote.

The cause of death has not been disclosed, and Martin asked for privacy as he and Wallace’s close circle come to terms with the loss.

Who was Hugh Wallace?

Wallace was also a professional architect and a founding partner of Douglas Wallace Consultants.

The company mourned his passing with a touching statement shared online.

“It is with deep sadness and shock that we share the news that our beloved Hugh Wallace. We are heartbroken. His passion, creativity, and warmth touched colleagues, audiences, and friends across the country,” the statement read.

His burial has been scheduled for December 5 at 11 am at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland.

Tributes pour in in honour of Hugh Wallace

Fans and well-wishers took to social media to express their condolences and share memories of Wallace.

Among those leading tributes was Irish prime minister Micheal Martin, who wrote:

“Deeply saddened at the passing of Hugh Wallace, whose advocacy for good architecture, coupled with his wonderful communication skills, performed a wonderful public service. Sincere condolences to his husband, Martin, family, and friends.”
