Kisumu county: The daughter of the late former prime minister Raila Odinga, Winnie’s look-alike aunt, Tabu Osewe Odinga, has shared a beautiful tribute to Beryl Achieng, who died on November 25.

What happened to Beryl Odinga?
Beryl, who is Raila’s sister, had been battling with cancer for years, and because of her illness, she did not make it to her brother’s burial.
Her daughter, Chizi, broke down at her burial, remembering her last words after she was told that Raila had passed on in India.
She shared that her mother lamented how she had nothing else to do in this world now that her beloved brother had died.
Her body was flown to Kisumu, and she is set to be buried at their family masoluem, Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Siaya.
While at the Kisumu Airport, Tabu, who was in an all-black outfit, addressed mourners while giving her vote of thanks.

What did Winnie Odinga’s aunt say?
Her striking resemblance to Winnie also left many sharing how the family had dopplegngers amongst themselves.
Tabu said:
“I am a sister-in-law to Auntie Beryl, in the sense that I am her younger brother’s widow. In less than two months, as the Odinga family, I must say, we have lost two beautiful souls. We are tired, we are devastated. But we believe that God is there. And He will give us strength,” she said.
She also thanked all the friends and family who took time to travel and mourn with them in Kisumu before heading to Bondo.
“Mine is to thank you and make you feel appreciated by the Odinga family. Continue having that good heart,” she said.
She also spoke in a Zimbabwean language as she shared her last message to Beryl.

What did Ruth Odinga say about her sister?
At Beryl’s memorial, her younger sister Ruth Odinga gave a powerful tribute recalling how her sister raised her.
She shared how Beryl would comb her hair and tidy her up because she lived in her house with her other children.
According to Ruth, she also ran to her sister in Zimbabwe, and it was there that she learnt how to be a strong woman in leadership.
Ruth mourned her sister as her best friend and noted how she would miss the memories that they had together that shaped her life.
She also revealed that she was her caregiver and recalled how they wondered ways to break Raila’s death to her.
