The gospel industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of a veteran gospel artiste.

The veteran singer who dominated the gospel industry for over 40 years died on Sunday, December 7.
Maame Tiwaa was the lead singer for Yaw Sarpong & Asomafo group from Ghana, and their music touched many across the world.
What happened to Maame Tiwaa?
According to TUKO.co.ke’s sister website Yen Ghana, the artiste’s death was announced by the group’s manager, Nana Poku Ashis.
Another Ghanaian website, GhanaWeb, reported that the gospel singer passed away after a short illness, but the cause of her death hadn’t been revealed yet.

Nana shared a photo of the beautiful singer accompanied by a tearjeking message.
He wrote:
“My other mother, my mother, why are you not responding to my calls? Hmm, it is well mam Tiwaa! Your iconic voice will be missed.”
He also shared another clip of Tiwaa singing and captioned it:
“It is well, hmmmmm!”
In October, the veteran musician performed at Apostle Abraham Lamptey of Believers House of Worship’s birthday celebration, and the clip from the event has emerged after her death.

Thousands of Tiwaa’s fans took to social media to mourn her untimely death, and below are their touching messages:

“Maame Tiwaa, rest well. Maame Tiwaa of Yaw Sarpong and the Asamafo Band is reported dead, as monitored on social media this morning. Rest well, great woman. It was nice that you were eulogised and honoured at this year’s TGMA. You blazed the trail in terms of the Gospel terrain for almost 50 years.”

What happened to gospel singer Betty Bayo?
The gospel singer passed away on November 10 at the Kenyatta National Hospital, where she was undergoing treatment for blood cancer (leukaemia).
Days after her burial, her mother, Joyce Wairimu, demanded her body be exhumed, for an autopsy to be done to determine the cause of her death.
