Pastor Victor Kanyari has broken his silence about the ongoing tension between the family of his late ex-wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo, and her widower, Hiram ‘Tash’ Gitau.

Betty passed away on Monday, November 10, while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
She had reportedly been diagnosed with an aggressive form of blood cancer.
What did Betty Bayo’s family say?
Drama within the family started brewing shortly after Betty’s burial when her brother, Edward Kang’ethe Mbugua, took to social media, alleging that the family had not been informed about Betty’s illness until it was too late.
He also hinted that life in Betty’s household was not as smooth as portrayed, claiming that on the day she died, he found pending water and Wi-Fi bills at her home.
A few days later, Betty’s mother joined the discussion, alleging that Tash had never officially married her daughter.
She went on to ask Pastor Kanyari to take custody of his two children with Betty, arguing that they were not in an environment fit for their growth.
Additionally, she announced her intentions to safeguard Betty’s assets as an inheritance for the kids.
Most notably, she hinted that once she returns to Kenya from the United States, she would like Betty’s body exhumed so an autopsy can be conducted to find out the exact cause of her death.

What did Pastor Kanyari say to Tash?
Hours after Betty’s mother made her statement, Pastor Kanyari publicly addressed Tash through a video shared online.
He began by explaining that he had been reluctant to speak publicly, but he felt compelled to respond after Betty’s mother voiced her concerns.
He urged Tash to respect the wishes of Betty’s mother, describing her as a grieving parent who deserved understanding.
“I have been staying quiet and observing things for myself. I am very touched by what that woman is going through; it has touched me. I would like to ask Tash to listen to her wishes so that you may not get a curse from the one who passed away or her as a mother. Just listen to her, people might want to underestimate her, but I would never forget that she was her only child that was supporting her. Even I, as Kanyari, will listen to her, even if they are my kids. Tash, let’s just respect her, she is almost 70+ years old,” he explained.
Kanyari also suggested that tensions in Betty and Tash’s relationship had begun long before her death, alleging that they had separated months prior.
He also reiterated that he was not eyeing Betty’s assets and was solely focused on the well-being of all parties involved.
Despite the unfolding drama, Kanyari and Tash have maintained a respectful relationship, acknowledging that they share a common responsibility as fathers to Betty’s children.
