Achieng’ was laid to rest at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo on Saturday, December 6, after a long battle with cancer.
The mother of three, deeply loved by her family and friends, passed away just weeks after the death of their brother, former prime minister Raila Odinga, on October 15.

What happened at Beryl Achieng’s gravesite?
At the gravesite, the family was visibly overcome with grief. For Ruth, who had always regarded her sister as both a best friend and mentor, the pain was unbearable.
“For me, it was particularly difficult because, apart from the blood we shared, she was the only elder sibling around me while growing up. This is a special person we have buried today—a woman who loved without compromise. She loved peace, and at the same time, she was elegant,” she said.
Ruth wailed as she questioned why Achieng’ had to die. Though she has always shown strength, the finality of saying goodbye forever overwhelmed her.
This moment of sorrow touched many Kenyans, who expressed their support for the Odinga family and prayed that God would comfort them and ease their pain.
