Kevin Obure, who specialised in Arts with Mathematics and Business, was crossing the pedestrian lane on his way to his residence when he was struck by a car.

Kevin’s colleague, Domic Enzo, told TUKO.co.ke that the Bachelor of Education student died instantly at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, whose car has been impounded at the local police station, fled immediately after the accident and remains at large.
“He was hit while on the pedestrian lane going to his place of residence after the day’s classes,” the devastated student explained.
Enzo described the loss as “heartbreaking” and said that the incident has sent shockwaves through the university community.
Kevin Obure’s case taken up by police
Sources indicate that the deceased student is from Kisii County, Bobasi constituency, Bassi Bogetaorio ward in the Rigena area.
Kevin’s body has been taken to the Pope Benediction Hospital morgue in Nyahururu, where mourners are paying their respects.
“The matter was filed at the police station but there seems to be little progress in tracking down the hit-and-run driver,” Enzo lamented, calling on the police to speed up their investigations.
Friends and lecturers remember him as a dedicated and ambitious student, whose promising future was cut tragically short.
Authorities have appealed to anyone with information about the driver to come forward as the investigation continues.

Student dies while picking graduation gown
The incident comes a week after another student was killed while on his way to the Cooperative University of Kenya in Karen.
Fletcher Vince Otieno was picked up around Kenyatta Hospital in a car by a friend who was dropping him to pick his graduation gown.
At around 7 pm, they were driving on a diversion when a speeding pick-up hit them on the side that Vince was seated, killing him on the spot.
Vince died just days away from celebrating his graduation, a development that left friends and family heartbroken about the reality of a future without him.
