Is there gender imbalance in the Ugunja appointments?
However, the appointments have already stirred controversy within the constituency, with some residents expressing dissatisfaction, particularly over what they describe as gender imbalance in the new workforce.
Lillyanne Aketch, who contested against Omondi in the by-election, strongly criticised the MP for allegedly sidelining women.
“It is sad that this office does not recognise women. I can see 26 men and only two are women, and they have been given the least paying jobs while men have better jobs. Not fair to the girl child,” she said.
Aketch urged local women to rally behind her in the next general election so that she “equally distributes positions.”
