She shared that tree-hugging is deeply therapeutic for her, explaining that it reconnects her with nature while reinforcing her commitment to fight deforestation.
Her unique activism has turned her into a trending topic nationally and beyond, with hundreds cheering her on online.
How did Simon and Maurine Kabu recognise Truphena’s efforts?
Business mogul Simon Kabu, co-founder of Bonfire Adventures, was among those who publicly celebrated Truphena’s persistence.
In a Facebook post, he urged his daughter, Maurine Kabu, owner of Adequate Safaris, to reward the young activist with a well-deserved holiday.
“This girl Truphena Muthoni’s resilience and perseverance is at another level. Seventy-two hours hugging a tree? Keep going, girl! Anything you have learnt from her?” he posted.
Maurine responded soon after, announcing that Adequate Safaris would gift Truphena a fully paid 3-day flight holiday to the Kenyan Coast, allowing her to travel with a parent or guardian once her challenge ends.
