Unknown people are reported to have stormed the home of former Public Works Principal Secretary Samson Akute Teela on the night of Monday, December 8, leaving a trail of destruction.
What was burnt in attack at ex-PS’s home?
According to the former PS’s farm manager, Michael Egesa, the attackers, whose number remains unknown, torched four vehicles parked at the home alongside the house.

Egesa said they used petrol to set ablaze the vehicles and the house before running away, leaving behind jerry cans.
“They came here and burnt a Mercedes-Benz, a Peugeot and two Toyota vehicles. They also burnt part of Mzee’s house. Unfortunately, the vehicles were burnt completely,” the farm manager told reporters.
Tom Wanyonyi, a security guard who was on duty on the night of the incident, said his life and that of his boss were in danger.
Wanyonyi said the incident might be related to a land ownership row involving the former PS.
“I have repeatedly said that our lives are in danger. If the people who came to attack us have any issue with Akute, then they should make it clear. We suspect that they have an interest in his 800-acre piece of land,” the night guard said.
Following the attack, some of the residents in the area said they are now living in fear. They appealed to the Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to intervene.

Kiminini subcounty police commander, Stephen Mwaniki, confirmed the incident and revealed the officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had launched an investigation.
Mwaniki said that preliminary investigations indicate that the arson was attributed to a land ownership tussle.
“The arsonists did not steal anything from the homestead. Currently, no arrests have been made, but our DCI officers are on top of things. We hope that very soon, we will arrest all the suspects,” the police boss told TUKO.co.ke.
