Amimo collapsed and died on December 7, sending the media fraternity and his close political friends into mourning.
His wife, Rosie, has been eulogising him as a friend and someone who loved her dearly to the point that he supported and paid for everything at home.
How much did Oburu Oginga give Amimo’s family?
She recently shared that she was married at an early age, even before she got her KCSE results and that her husband did not want her to work or do business.
At his burial in Awasi, Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga recalled his friendship with Festus and how shocked he was to hear of his passing.
“I did not just come here because of politics. This man was someone I knew, and he would consult me on so many things at work. So when he died it came as a shock to me because he was not sick or had any illnesses,” he said.
Oburu also offered his widow KSh 60,000 to support her even as she plans to pick herself up after her husband’s burial.
“This is for you, and as you can see, she is bringing us another Amimo,” he added.
Oburu also gave Amimo’s mother KSh 40,000 as a way of sending his apology before he excused himself and his team to leave for another function.

What did Amimo and wife fight about?
In a different report, Amimo’s widow recalled how the journalist was always on his phone and that he would remind him to take some time to rest.
She added that he would get home and still be on the phone, and each time they would fight over it because he kept saying that it was his office.
According to Rosie, Amomo would say that him being on the phone was the only way he could keep supporting the familiy but she would remind him to take breaks.
