During their tour of the region, Lagat and his team held consultative meetings with local leaders, elders, and residents in pursuit of peace.

He emphasised that community leaders could resolve the issues, but due to their failure, the government was compelled to act.

The directive came after the Kenya Red Cross Society reported that tribal violence in Angata Barikoi, Trans Mara South, displaced more than 1,800 people within three days.

At least 253 households were razed, forcing families to seek refuge in schools, dispensaries, and open spaces, with some sleeping under trees.

Children, women, and persons with disabilities have been hardest hit, as food stores were destroyed by fire.

The unrest is linked to a long-standing land boundary dispute. Angata Barikoi has for years faced land conflicts, banditry, and insecurity.

Which areas are under curfew in Narok?

He announced the curfew, which will run from 6pm to 6am, in the disturbed areas in Trans Mara West, including Nkararu.

According to Lagat, a failure to comply will result in appropriate action.
