When a lone passenger fell ill mid-trip, the driver made a decisive call: instead of pressing on, he diverted the bus to Kanyakine Hospital.
How long was Tahmeed passenger in hospital?
Ian Steve reports that the kindhearted driver waited an impressive 45 minutes for the patient to be stabilised before continuing.
In an era where schedules often trump compassion, the crew’s choice stood out. Passengers remained on board, patient and supportive, as medical staff attended to their fellow traveller.

Whereas the that moment of humanity delayed everyone’s journey, it was worth the wait as the passenger arrived at their destination without any more health scares.
It was a quiet act of care, but one that spoke volumes about accountability and the sanctity of life on Kenya’s roads.
For the passengers who waited, and the one whose journey paused for care, it was proof that sometimes the most important destination is compassion itself.
“I travelled in that bus that day. The girl was in so much pain through out the safari but thanks to a medic passenger who, in collaboration with the conductor, made it bearable for the girl to reach her destination in Mutomo,” recalled Flora Kaari.

Details indicate that the bus, registration number KDK 035U, was en route when one of the passengers went into labour.
Thanks to the swift action and remarkable support from the bus crew and fellow passengers, the mother safely delivered a healthy baby before the bus could reach a medical facility.
Following the successful delivery, the newborn and the mother were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical attention and care.
