Speaking at the event on Monday, December 22, Ruku informed the gathering that Kindiki had sent him to represent him and to purchase goats as a show of unity with the people.

He explained that despite his illness, the deputy president had contributed funds for the auction, underscoring his commitment to the community.

“I have been sent by your deputy president, who is not feeling well. He told me to greet the people of Baringo when I arrive. He also sent me a lot of money to buy goats for Christmas. So if you see that he is not here, know that he has sent me and is with you in spirit,” Ruku said.

Ruku further expressed the need to replicate similar goat auction festivals in Mbeere North, Embu county, in 2026 to promote residents.

Further, he praised President William Ruto for prioritising food security in drought-stricken regions such as Taita Taveta, Mandera, and Turkana.

Ruku emphasised that sufficient resources are available to prevent hunger and urged local administrators to promptly report any cases of food scarcity so that relief can be provided.

He also assured Kenyans that the government has put in place measures to ensure livestock in areas like Garissa, Wajir, and Turkana receive adequate feed during dry spells.

“We have put in place plans as a department to ensure that livestock affected by drought in Garissa, Turkana, Wajir and other areas get enough feed. The government has enough resources to ensure no Kenyan sleeps hungry for lack of food,” he added.
