What is the name of Kakai Bisau’s new movement?

He unveiled the Fungua Movement on Sunday, December 21, in an event attended by over 500 youths. Speaking during the event, the MP said his movement is meant to open doors of development to locals in Trans Nzoia and liberate them from what he described as political slavery and poor leadership.

“We, the founders of Fungua Movement are forward thinking, development oriented, accommodative, non-tribal and advance issue-based politics,” Bisau said.

The legislator serving his first term in office further noted that unlike the Tawe Movement whose symbol is crossed arms, Fungua Movement symbol is open arms whose interpretation is openness to development opportunities.

“Our people should avoid ile kitu wanaambiwa funga funga (Tawe Movement),” he said.

The MP also used the opportunity to hit out at Natembeya, accusing him of failing to address key needs for the locals.

He claimed Trans Nzoia locals are struggling to access clear water and quality health care alongside poor drainage system and incomplete projects within the Kitale Municipality.

“Governor Khaemba left us with a modern market that was 96% complete. Three years later, the market is not complete because Mr. Tawe has stagnated it,” Bisau said.

Majority of the youths who attended the Fungua Movement launch were former members of the popular Tawe Movement.

“Today, more people in Trans Nzoia are poor than during the regime of former Governor, Patrick Simiyu Khaemba. He (Natembeya) promised to liberate us from poverty but the opposite is happening,” Ogutu said.

“We (Trans Nzoia creatives) have nothing to celebrate in this regime. We are glad that Bisau has come up with the Fungua Movement to liberate us from poverty created by the Tawe Movement,” added Kobi Prince an artist.
