Tributes are pouring in for veteran radio presenter Amina Fakii of Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), who passed away at the age of 83.

Fakii, who died on Sunday, December 21, was laid to rest on Monday, as announced by her family.
Recognised as one of Kenya’s most iconic radio voices, Fakii built a distinguished career at KBC, formerly known as the Voice of Kenya (VoK).

Following the news of her death, many Kenyans took to social media to pay tribute to Fakii, whose voice was synonymous with trust and excellence in broadcasting.
Among those mourning her passing was Agnes Nguna, the KBC managing director.
“Amina Fakii was a passionate broadcaster whose voice resonated with warmth, authenticity, and professionalism.
Through her work at Radio Taifa, then known as Idhaa ya Taifa, she engaged audiences, informed, educated, entertained listeners, and upheld the values of service broadcasting,” she said.
Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho described Fakii as a legendary broadcaster with an immense impact on the media industry.
“It is with deep sorrow that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of the legendary KBC radio presenter Amina Fakii following the sad news of her passing,” Joho said in a statement.
He praised her professionalism, noting that she served the public with integrity and left behind a respected legacy.
Joho also offered prayers for Fakii’s family, and asked for divine mercy upon her soul.

In other news, TUKO.co.ke reported that photos of the burial of former Mayienga FM presenter Festus Amimo recently surfaced online.
The casket, wrapped in a blue cloth, was taken from the hearse to his large home.
It was then lowered into a tiled grave, marked with a cross.
A priest conducted the final rites.
The casket remained covered with a cloth featuring a hand holding a microphone, symbolising his career in radio.
Afterwards, the grave was covered with rebar in preparation for cementing, while flowers were placed on top. Emotions ran high as mourners, including his daughter, cried in pain.
