Kaluma recalled narrowly escaping a purported attack on November 23, just days before the mini polls.
What happened before Kaluma was attacked?
On the by-election date, he said he went to receive the former independent candidate Philip Aroko at the Agoro Sare Primary School polling station, mistakenly believing he was the ODM candidate Boyd Were.
According to Kaluma, after they greeted each other, Aroko allegedly instructed his supporters to assault him immediately.
During the attack, he claimed Aroko’s team seized his bodyguard’s firearm and handed it to the candidate before leaving.
However, on the latest social media post, the lawmaker alleged that the attackers had planned to kill Boyd as he arrived to vote, but ‘God sent me ahead of him.’
Have Peter Kaluma’s attackers been arrested?
He further accused police officers present at the scene of retreating, creating room for the assault.
Despite the attack occurring in full view of the public and media, Kaluma lamented that no arrests have been made.
“They came into Agoro Sare, attacked me, left me for dead and robbed my bodyguards of their firearms with violence as the two OCPDs and over 10 police officers who were there retreated to create room for my murder. They have not been arrested, despite my having been attacked in the full glare of the police, the general public and the media; and despite their having returned the firearm of my police security to the Police. Lest you forget, I am a member of the Security Committee in parliament,” he said.
The MP shared photos from his hospital bed showing a head injury, which sparked widespread sympathy from Kenyans.
He noted that he remains in recovery after another surgery, expressing faith that he will heal and return to serve his constituents soon.
“I am down, having undergone another surgery. It is lonely here. God will heal my wounds, and I will be back with you soon,” Kaluma added.

This only leaves all of us in the hands of God, the supreme king.”

Did Philip Aroko plan attack on Kaluma?
Meanwhile, Aroko denied allegations linking him to the brutal attack on the Homa Bay Town legislator.
The former candidate claimed that the allegations were unfair and politically motivated as he tried to shield the MP from his attackers.
According to Aroko, the chaos began when he asked Kaluma to exercise fairness in the process. After the crowd overwhelmed him, he excused himself and left the scene.
