Though infrequent, this cancer can develop at any age but peaks in young children under 5 years and adults aged 40–50.
Thiga sought help from Kenyans raising funds so he could travel to India for treatment.
On Friday, December 19, Thiga left Kenya for India.
He later shared a photo at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport alongside his wife and philanthropist Karangu Muraya.
“There are friends, there is family, and then there are friends who become family. What a sacrifice! My wife and I could have had a hard time here in India. Help me appreciate Karangu,” he wrote.
The next day, Karangu announced that Thiga had already started treatment.
“A lot can happen in 24 hours. By God’s grace, my brother Njeru Thiga started his medication here in India early this morning.
This is a great miracle that has happened this year because on Saturday last week, we were all stranded, not knowing where to start, but Jehovah has made a way for us. We are trusting God for a speedy recovery. God bless you all for prayers and support,” he wrote.

In other news, a viral video captured Uhuru’s motorcade on a Nairobi highway, where excited motorists spotted his black Toyota Land Cruiser 200 series V8 and enthusiastically waved.
Uhuru, known for favouring this model over the newer 300 series, waved back through lighter-tinted front windows.
As his vehicle accelerated away, a security Prado SUV with a bull bar manoeuvred closer, seemingly for protection.
The clip sparked divided opinions online.
Many celebrated the interaction, while others, including activist Morara Kebaso, criticised the enthusiasm, questioning awareness of economic challenges during his tenure.
