According to relatives, she boarded a matatu in Kisumu and alighted in Bondo at approximately 10pm. From there, she hired a boda boda to take her to her rural home in Got Agulu, approximately 30 kilometres away.

Her elder sister, Maureen Atieno, vividly recalled their last conversation.

“She asked me, ‘Do you have a jerrican? The boda boda I was on apparently ran out of fuel. I am here, and this guy wants to… I am on a rough, rough road,” Atieno said while describing the dark and rainy night.

Usenge, where Adhiambo was stranded, is about six kilometres from their home and 24 kilometres from Bondo town.

When was Raychelle Adhiambo found dead?

The family immediately began a frantic search that night, but lost track of her.
