A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer was found dead in her home in Migori county in the early hours of Christmas Day, in what police believe may be a murder.

The 28-year-old officer, identified as Second Lieutenant Synthia Awour Mboya of Gilgil Barracks, was discovered in her house in Nyahera Village, Suna East Sub-county, where she had travelled while on leave.
The incident was reported shortly before dawn, prompting police officers and detectives to rush to the scene.
How was the Migori KDF officer found dead?
According to police occurrence book report, the officer’s body was found in her matrimonial bedroom, lying in a pool of blood.
“It was reported by Calvis Odeka, assistant chief Osingo South, that there was a murder incident in his area involving a KDF officer namely Synthia Awuor Mboya, aged 28 years,” the report read in part.
Investigators noted visible injuries, including deep cuts and signs suggesting she may have been strangled.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased … had a deep cut on the nose, and signs of strangulation on the neckc,” the report added.
Investigations launched into the death
Her husband told officers that he arrived home from Migori town at around 1:00 am and found the house doors open. Upon entering, he discovered his wife’s lifeless body inside the bedroom.
Detectives from Migori Police Station and the Suna East Sub-County Criminal Investigations Office have launched a full investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.

How a KDF officer, his wife and newborn died
TUKO.co.ke previously reported that a joyful outing quickly turned into sorrow when KDF officer Willington Tsofa, his wife, their newborn, and two other relatives died in a road accident shortly after leaving a hospital.
The family had been picking up the mother and baby following childbirth. The fatal crash involved a Toyota Fielder, a saloon car, and a trailer.
Preliminary reports indicated that the Fielder was overtaking when it collided head-on with the saloon car before crashing into the trailer, leading to the deaths of all five family members, including Willington’s brother, a GSU officer.
Friends and family mourned the loss online, describing the tragedy as heartbreaking. The deaths left a deep void in the family, with many recalling Willington and his relatives as devoted and loving family members.
