Kisumu: Renowned Luo Ohangla musician Javan Mc Ajudo, popularly known as Chui Mkali, has been involved in a tragic road accident.

The crash, which occurred on Friday, December 26, at Harambee Market in Nyakach involved a boda boda rider who died instantly after being knocked down.

Why was Javan involved in accident?

Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle was being driven at high speed and that the occupants appeared intoxicated.

Photos circulating online show the rider’s leg severed in the impact, while Javan’s car sustained severe front‑end damage before veering into water.

A yellow crate with bottles of beer was also retrieved from the boot of the vehicle.

“It was a head-on collision. He knocked down the rider and ran over him before veering off the road, leaving those inside the car visibly terrified. The vehicle continued for about 200 metres after the impact before sliding into a ditch, which eventually brought it to a halt. At the scene, a crate of beer was found in the boot, and some bottles were taken by members of the crowd. Occupants appeared intoxicated,” an eyewitness told TUKO.co.ke, adding that the car had three men and a lady.

Following the incident, angry residents attempted to confront the car occupants, but they were shielded by a section of the crowd.

“The crowd wanted to torch the vehicle, but some people shielded them from the confrontation,” he added.

3 killed in Kericho-Nakuru Highway accident

Elsewhere, a dawn head-on collision between a Toyota Probox and a trailer at Kedowa trading centre on the Kericho-Nakuru Highway killed three and injured four people.
