Karen Lojore, the 20-year-old lady who died following a tragic stampede at Nigerian singer Asake’s concert in Nairobi, has been laid to rest.

Lojore lost her life after sustaining severe injuries during chaos at the entrance of Nyayo National Stadium, where the concert was being held.
The incident was reportedly caused by poor crowd control, delayed gate access and heavy rainfall, which led to a surge of fans pushing toward the entry points.
A student at Daystar University, Karen was caught in the deadly crush despite having a valid ticket. She was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Her burial took place on Wednesday, December 31, with family members, relatives, friends and fellow students gathering to pay their final respects and celebrate her short but impactful life.
Emotions ran high during the funeral as Karen’s mother and stepfather struggled to come to terms with the devastating loss. Overcome by grief, her mother was unable to eulogise her daughter in person. Instead, her tribute was read on her behalf, leaving mourners in tears.
“As I lay you to rest, I’m left with so many questions and no answers. I keep asking myself what happened or what to believe. You had just finished your exams, so happy and so hopeful about life,” the tribute read in part.
The grieving mother recalled Karen’s final moments, expressing deep regret over their last goodbye.
“That morning, you could say goodbye. If I had known, I would have held onto every word and every breath. My child, please forgive me if I failed you in any way,” she wrote.

She described Karen as not only her daughter but also her close friend, admitting that her death had left an irreplaceable void.
“You have taken a part of me that can never be replaced. I don’t understand why you had to leave so soon, why your journey ended even before it truly began,” the tribute continued.
The emotional message ended with a last farewell:
“Karen, my child, sleep in peace. Love always.”
