His story touched the hearts of many Kenyans who viewed him as the future hope of his seemingly needy kin, who appeared weary from the long journey they had taken to accompany Fred to the national school.

As soon as the photos of the family went viral, and their plight became known to many, the government intervened, promising to educate the young lad and ensure he would go on with his high school education seamlessly without financial constraints.
Then Education Cabinet Secretary, the late George Magoha, announced that the student would be a beneficiary of the government’s Elimu Kenya Scholarship Fund.
Four years down the line, many Kenyans who were invested in the young boy’s education have a reason to smile after he posted amazing results in his 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Fred was among the more than 993,000 candidates who sat for their Form 4 exams, and TUKO.co.ke can now confirm that the student posted a stellar performance.
Which grade did Fred Ekiru score in 2025 KCSE?
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Fred revealed that he scored a B+ of 72 points in his KCSE, and also hinted at the career paths he might be considering.

“I am so happy with my results. I performed well in my sciences, though I expected to do even better in Biology and Physics. Though I am still deciding, I might consider a science-related course because that is my strength. My family is so happy and proud,” he told this writer in an interview.
His scores per subject were as follows: Maths (A), Kiswahili B+, English (B plain), Biology (B+), Physics (B plain), Chemistry A plain, History and Government B+, and Geography B plain.
