Petronillah Patrick finally married her high school sweetheart after eight years, beginning married life with the love of her life.
The wedding took place at the end of December 2025 in a unique ceremony held at her husband’s village home, ushering the couple into a new and significant phase of life.
When did Petronillah start working?
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Petronillah, who chose her employers as her best couple, narrated her dating journey and work life before saying “I do.”
“Growing up, life was not easy. We faced financial challenges that saw me only reach Form Four, ending my education journey. I was forced to look for a job, which took me to Nairobi. I worked for a couple for five years, starting in 2020.
“By that time, I was already in love. I met my husband when we were both in high school; I was in Form Three. We come from the same area back home and attend the same church, so it was easy to form a friendship that later grew into a relationship and eventually marriage,” she said.
She described herself as fortunate to have worked for a couple who treated her like their daughter despite being their house help.

Petronillah later joined college three years into her employment to pursue a nine-month cosmetology course.
“When I finished, I got a job at a salon. I would wake up early to do housework, leave by 8am for the salon, then return at 3pm to pick my bosses’ child from school before heading home to prepare supper. Unfortunately, the salon job only lasted a week before the business collapsed, forcing me to return to full-time house management,” she explained.
While one opportunity collapsed, another was taking shape, as wedding plans were already underway.
She revealed that she had two pre-wedding ceremonies: one held in Mwingi and another at the Nairobi church she attended with her employers.
How much did Petronillah use for her wedding?
“All went well, including our wedding at our Mwingi church. It was a beautiful and successful ceremony done on a limited budget of KSh 200,000. Initially, we had planned for KSh 500,000, but we cut costs significantly. People ate to their fill and even went for second rounds. It was the best wedding our home church had ever witnessed,” she said.
Petronillah chose her employers as her best couple due to the strong bond they had built and the way they had supported her over the past five years.
The newlyweds did not go for a honeymoon as neither of them is currently employed, prompting them to appeal to the public for job opportunities.
“My husband studied driving, while I did cosmetology. At the moment, none of us is working, and we would appreciate any job opportunities,” she pleaded.
