Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria has lamented over the development standards Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has set using Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The third-term lawmaker complained that Nyoro’s consistent launch of impactful projects and programs, especially in education, is making them look like incompetent and clueless leaders.

What did Gikaria blame Nyoro for?
Gikaria said it has become challenging for other MPs to explain to the electorate why they can’t do similar projects.
He particularly wondered how the Kiharu MP managed to use CDF to subsidise school fees for all students in the constituency by about 99%, leaving parents to pay only KSh 500.
“The young man who has put us in this trouble is Ndindi Nyoro. I don’t know if you have heard him. He is saying the children in his constituency will be paying KSh 500, and we are with him (in Parliament). I can’t even talk. He has soiled our names and reputations. Now, when you go somewhere, people think you are a fool or a thief because they are wondering if in Kiharu they are paying KSh 500, what about us? Anyway, that is debatable, ” Lamented Gikaria.
In trying to explain why Nyoro could be succeeding with such ambitious programs, the UDA lawmaker argued that some constituencies have fewer students and schools, making it possible for MPs to offer maximum support.
“There are some schools that have only four secondary schools. Assume each has 1000 students. Those are 4000 students. Surely, you can be able to pay full sponsorship because you have a few children,” argued the Nakuru Town East MP.
What did Aaron Cheruiyot say about Ndindi Nyoro?
Earlier this week, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot argued that Nyoro could be using money meant for paying board teachers to pay school fees for learners.
According to the Kericho senator, some schools in specific regions have very few teachers employed by the board of management, making it easy for MPs to expend CDF funds on other impactful projects like the ones Nyoro is doing.

He defended MPs who appear to be doing less, arguing that most of them could be managing vast constituencies with a myriad of urgent and competing interests.
“There are some regions within the country where 80 to 90% of the teachers are on TSC, meaning they don’t have other financial needs, so CDF money can be used for other projects. Whereas in some regions, the ratio of TSC teachers to PTA teachers is 50-50. Ndindi Nyoro is using part of the money that should have been used to pay teachers to pay school fees, ” argued Cheruiyot.
Before he was ostracised from the Budget Committee, a section of MPs led by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Chief Whip Sylvanus Osoro accused Nyoro of using his position as chair of the powerful committee to allocate more resources to his constituency at the detriment of 289 others.
Nyoro dismissed the allegations, terming them misplaced and unfounded.
What is Ndindi Nyoro doing in Kiharu?
On Tuesday, January 13, Nyoro launched a free education programme targeting 12, 0000 day school learners in Kiharu. Parents would only be required to pay KSh 500 per term.
The youthful second-term lawmaker disclosed that KSh 50 million had been set aside for infrastructure development, with a bigger percentage allocated to the construction and improvement of school laboratories.
Under the programme, learners would be provided with lunch from Monday to Saturday. Their diet would include githeri for three days and rice for the remaining days.
“Chapati will be served for lunch every last Friday of the month,” announced the MP.
Principals of the most improved schools would be flown to Malaysia or Dubai for a holiday.
