Kabarnet, Baringo: Two young girls, Jacinta Jemutai Kibet and Georgina Jelagat Kibet from Kaptimbor, are worried about losing their spots at Pemwai Girls Senior School due to school fees.

The twins, former pupils of Kaprogonya Junior School, scored 59 and 55 points, respectively, and were both selected to join Grade 10.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, their father, Thomas Nicholas Kibet, said that he wakes up every day to look for manual work, and it is never guaranteed.

“Some days I return home empty-handed,” he said.
“We do not have any money for fees, shopping, and other requirements; we are just stranded,” he said.
Their mother, Catherine Jebet Cherutich, carries the weight of caring for a young baby, unable to earn or contribute; the family struggles even to afford food.

How much do Baringo twins need?
“The family says they lack even the most basic necessities; to many, KSh 100,000 may seem small, but to this family, it is an impossible wall standing between two bright girls and their future,” reported Baringo Daily News.
As the days go by, the twins watch time move on, unsure if they will ever wear the Pemwai Girls’ uniform they worked so hard for.
The family is appealing to well-wishers, leaders, churches, and education stakeholders to support the twins and ensure they do not miss out on their education.

In a previous story, Nicanor Otieno shared that his son was at home because of unaffordable school fees, despite the government intervention President William Ruto had announced earlier.
With the prevailing circumstances, parents really struggled with fees after Grade 10 placements started on a bad note for them.
At the time, Rolix Winton Ombok was still at home weeks after other Grade 10 students reported to various high schools in the country.
