For a long time, the family’s life was defined by constant movement. From Nakuru to Londiani, then on to Kericho and Kisii, they trekked on foot together with their children.
Where did roaming Kisii family sleep?
They would sleep by the roadside and survive largely on the kindness of strangers who offered food, clothing, or small acts of support.
Since 2022, their journey has been marked by hardship, resilience and unanswered questions, as the true reason behind their relentless trekking has never been clearly established.
Daktari Kelvin Kipchirchir Ufa told TUKO.co.ke that their story might have continued unnoticed were it not for a chance encounter and the power of social media.
Public attention was drawn to the family’s plight after Sec Regen shared their story on Facebook, sparking widespread concern and compassion.
How Kisii family got accommodation
Just three days after meeting Belgut Member of Parliament, Nelson Koech, hope arrived when he reached out and pledged to help restore dignity to the family.
True to his word, the well-wisher paid five months’ rent for them, securing a bedsitter in E-Land, Kericho.
At the same time, he began arrangements to search for land that could be purchased to build the family a permanent home.

“Waseme penye wanataka wanunuliwe shamba, we shall ensure they live and enjoy,” the MP said, underlining his determination to see the family fully settled.

He also committed himself to ensuring that the children return to school and gain access to a stable future.
For the family, the moment they stepped into their new space was overwhelming. Tears flowed freely as years of sleeping in the cold, uncertainty and fear gave way to relief and gratitude.
What seemed like a simple bedsitter represented safety, dignity and the first real sense of belonging they had felt in years.
