Dorothy Muoma: Judiciary denies knowing woman who died after long illness amid magistrate claims
She was put on medication until 1999, when she enrolled for training at the Kenya School of Law and was sworn in as an advocate of the High Court in 2003.
This marked a milestone in her professional journey. In the same year, she began working with several law firms until 2010, when she joined the Attorney General’s office under the UNEP programme.
“She was an assistant registrar in charge of the Kisumu office till 2014, when she lost her job due to sickness,” the eulogy states.
Determined to continue her career, the late hardworking woman proceeded to launch her law firm, Lukas Muoma and Associates, in 2016.
Her efforts to continue were again thwarted by sickness, making it hard to run the firm.
Meanwhile, amid claims of Muoma’s magistrate responsibilities, the Judiciary’s spokesperson, Paul Ndemo, stated that she had never been an employee of the Judiciary.

How did Dorothy Muoma die?
While Muoma recovered from the injuries sustained in the India accident, the process led to a diagnosis of schizophrenia.
Days before her death, Muoma was treated at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) for severe sepsis in her left leg.
“During this time, even though her condition seemed to be improving, a concerning aspect arose: her haemoglobin levels remained low despite regular blood transfusions,” the family said.
On the day of her demise, Muoma requested chips and medication for nausea; unfortunately, she fell asleep before eating the food.
Moments later, the nausea worsened, and she threw up before breathing her last in the care of her MTRH doctors.
