The lovebirds tied the knot in December 2016, a few years after meeting at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC), where they were both students. Their colourful wedding was attended several local celebrities.
Njugush and Wakavinye, as she is popularly known, shared their love journey on social media, showing a perfect match made in heaven. However, in their ninth year of marriage, fans began to see cracks in their relationship.
Did Njugush and Wakavinye break up?
Unlike the other years, the two did not celebrate their wedding anniversary, nor did they share Christmas family photos, as it had always been their norm.
Rumours about the couple’s alleged troubled marriage were first shared by blogger Edgar Obare. The blogger invited his followers to share tea anonymously, and several of them, some claiming to be close to Njugush and Wakavinye, alleged they parted ways in 2025.
One of the close friends alleged that Njugush had seen it all in the marriage, saying he deserves the best.
“As a woman, I have been hoping hii story ya Cele isilipuke. Njugush has been through hell. It’s ugly. Njugush and Wakavinye separated last year (2025). I’m a close friend to Cele, but I wish Njugush all the best! He deserves better,” a fan sent to Obare.”
The two further fuelled breakup rumours after Celestine was spotted without her wedding ring in her latest videos and photos. Fans also noticed that the two were no longer liking each other’s posts and had stopped appearing on their podcast.

Njugush has also been promoting his upcoming show Through Thick and Thick season 6 (TTNT 6), and his partner, Wakavinye, was omitted from the posters.
On Sunday, February 22, Njugush shared a video at his Ruiru home as he admired a mango tree in his compound as rain poured. In the background, his two sons, Tugi and Toria, could be heard talking while playing.
It is unclear if Wakavinye was home at the time Njugush recorded the video.

Njugush talks about suffocating in marriage
As rumours about Njugush and Wakavinye’s breakup continue to spread, a video of the award-winning comedian complaining about a tough marriage emerged.
In the video, Njugush compared their marriage phase to their dating period. The witty content creator said that men feel suffocated in marriages compared to dating period.
The mother of two reminded Njugush that a woman only makes a man’s life easier, but Njugush dismissed her claims.
