First Daughter Charlene Ruto and Mama Ida Odinga recently met in an event hosted by Moi Girls’ High School, Eldoret.

The two are alumnae of the prestigious school and came together for the institution.
In several images shared by the first daughter through her social media handles on Sunday, March 1, the two it appears that the two were part of the colourful event that brought together several other high-profile personalities.

Notably, the two met earlier when the first daughter visited to condole with the Odinga family following the passing of former prime minister Raila Odinga. Charlene hailed a warm welcome by the Odinga family, indicating a good relationship with them.
In their recent meeting, the two met to give back to their alma mater and reminisce about their time at the school.
“I am a product of Moi Girls High School, Eldoret. My four years there significantly grounded my faith and shaped my leadership journey,” Charlene wrote.
She continued to acknowledge the support of other old girls of the institution, reserving special praise for Ida as the leader of the group.
“As we convened as old girls led by our own alumnae, Mama Ida Odinga, to give back to our school, we reminisced on the special moments we shared, laughed at our innocence then and reflected on how God has been our help in the ages past.
With the gracious support of our CS Interior, Kipchumba Murkomen, Hon Samuel Chepkonga, MP Ainabkoi, where the school stands, many distinguished guests, the board and principal of the school, and the Moi Geans themselves, we surpassed our mission.”
In the images, Charlene donned a red, gorgeous jumpsuit.
A poster indicated that the function was to help the school restore the swimming pool.
Kenyans on social media took to the platform to communicate their thoughts, with some lauding the tremendous job that the first daughter is involved in.
However, not all comments were about the good work the alumnae are doing, with some users concerned about the dress code she chose for the event.

Which notable Kenyans attended Moi Girls Eldoret?
Moi Girls High School, Eldoret, was founded in 1928 as the European Primary School and later became Highlands School.
It relocated across the Sosiani River in the 1930s before moving to Eldoret in 1965 and admitting African students.
Renamed in 1978 to honour President Moi, the school has produced notable alumnae like Phyllis Kandie and Margaret Kamar.
Nancy Baraza, a former lawyer and deputy chief justice, and Esther Murugi, a real estate professional and ex-MP for Nyeri Town, are also distinguished alumnae of Moi Girls’ High School, Eldoret.
