Carolyne expressed worries about leaving the marriage, particularly concerning the paternity and care of her other two children.

“My concern and worry is that I have come to realise my husband of four years is gay! How should I handle this? Should I involve my parents? My fear is that if I step out, this will be baby daddy number three. I feel frustrated,” she said.

Moreover, the distressed woman noted that when she confronted her husband, he did not deny the revelation and instead threatened to harm himself.

She lamented feeling trapped in the marriage, as her husband insisted she only work in schools near his village.

“I am drained mentally. I got postpartum depression when I gave birth, and that’s when I realised. I need help,” she shared.

Social media users offered guidance, urging her to prioritise her peace of mind, consider leaving, and focus on self-care.

Cynthia Ochieng:

“Practising gayism is a personal decision. Involving parents or in-laws might not work. Most men turn to gayism because of vulnerability. He may not want you to work because he fears the information might be shared. Above all, PRAY. May you find solace in the Lord.”

“My dear, marriage is not for everyone. Don’t be ashamed to leave. Let society judge you, but most importantly, you will have saved yourself a lot. Walk away for your peace of mind.”

Everlyne Adhiambo:

“As long as my peace of mind is at stake, even if it means finding another partner, it’s fine. You’re not breaking any of the Ten Commandments.”

Been Refined:

“Same-gender attraction is not something learned. It is usually present from childhood. Prayer cannot make it go away, though one can choose to abstain and remain chaste. Society often misjudges gays as effeminate or as child molesters, but it’s far more complex than that.”
