Comedian-turned-philanthropist Eric Omondi has launched a campaign to encourage Gen Z to get their identification cards ahead of the 2027 elections.

The influencer, who made his name through the Churchill Show, has rebranded himself and is at the forefront of advocating for better governance in the country.
While he has yet to clearly declare whether he will be on the ballot in the next election, his actions seem to point in that direction.
What is Peperusha Tuesday?
In his latest move, calling on the youth to choose the best leadership for the country, he launched a campaign dubbed Peperusha Tuesday.
On Monday, October 6, he posted a video playing a guitar surrounded by a group of young men.
The youths waved their national ID cards at the camera as he sang along to a song encouraging them to do so.
The video showed Kenyans from different backgrounds displaying their ID cards.
He urged young people to take videos of themselves registering as voters or holding their national IDs, while admitting that the country was not doing well.
“Kenya has not been okay. We don’t have the basics. Do it for Boniface Kariuki, Albert Ojwang and Rex Masai, or they shall have lost their lives for no reason.”
Eric further claimed that there was a narrative suggesting that Gen Z will not vote and that they are irresponsible.
“That will not be the case; do not accept that narrative.”
In the caption, he issued a rallying call by saying:
“Tomorrow is Peperusha Tuesday. Dear Gen Zs, this is our God-given moment to change this country. 70% of Kenyan voters are young people. Please start sending me videos of yourself registering as a voter or just vibing with your ID or voter’s card to 0726959111 or post and tag me.”
Eric said he would share the videos to mark Peperusha Tuesday.

In other news, Eric expressed disappointment after the father of the late blogger Albert Ojwang’ accepted a KSh 2 million donation from President William Ruto.
He said it felt like a betrayal.
The comedian, who had helped raise millions for the family, questioned why they took government aid from those he blamed for Albert’s death.
