Faith Kipyegon closed out her 2025 season with another dominant win at Athlos in New York, USA.

Kipyegon returned to the streets of New York to compete in the second edition of the Alexis Ohanian-backed event.
The four-time world champion in the 1500m ran 4:17.78 to win the women’s mile. She extended her dominance over Gudaf Tsegay, beating the Ethiopian to take her record to 19-0. Tsegay was second while American Nikki Hultz was third.
How much did Faith Kipyegon get?
Ohanian’s major talking point has been rewarding the athletes for their efforts. Track and field remains one of the most underpaid sports in the world despite its huge following.
Every winner at Athlos NYC walked away with a cash prize of USD 60,000 (KSH 7.7 million), which was paid out instantly.
“I have been dominating this event. I am the queen, and now you are crowning me like a queen. This is my time. I have been pushing myself to achieve many goals and inspire the next generation. I am also still inspiring myself to run fast,” she said after the race.
There was also a promise of 250,000 USD for any athlete who broke the world record, but no records were broken.
Who else won at Athlos NYC 2025?
Brittany Brown was the biggest winner of the night, with the American sprinter winning both the 100m and 200m.
Brown clocked a season’s best of 10.99 seconds to finish ahead of Jacious Sears’ 11.01 seconds and Kayla White’s 11.22 seconds.

She then returned for the 200m, where she dropped a 21.89 ahead of Anavia Battle’s 22.21 and Marie Jose Ta Lou-Smith in third. Brown therefore won KSh 15.4 million for her double victory.
Masai Rusell made amends for her performance in Tokyo, with the Olympic champion clocking 12.52 seconds to win the 100m hurdles. Grace Stark and Alaysha Johnosn completed the podium places.
Keely Hodkingson won the 800m in a time of 1:56.53 while Marileidy Paulino took home the 400m crown, beating 2019 world champion Salwa Eid Nasser.
Tara Davis-Woodhall jumped to a world lead of 7.13m in the long jump, which started a day earlier at Times Square.

After the race, Serena Williams honoured Kipyegon as the two GOATs shared a heartwarming conversation.
The tennis great was on hand to hand out the crowns to all the winners at the event.
