How will Ruto elevate Kenya to first-world country?
Speaking during the 70th anniversary of the Africa Inland Church Ziwani at Starehe Boys School grounds on Sunday, October 12, Ruto emphasised the need for unity, strategic planning, and divine guidance to lift Kenya from its long-standing third-world status.
“By 2055, this nation will be a first-world country. We have been in the third world for far too long. We have had our fair share of being in this status. We will do this by the God’s grace, the energy of our hands, the blessing of our plans, and the energy and unity of the people of Kenya,” he said.
He added that the transformation would be achieved ‘by God’s grace, the energy of our hands, the blessing of our plans, and the unity of the Kenyan people.’
The president revealed that he has held one-on-one discussions with nearly 80% of Members of Parliament, opposition leader Raila Odinga, retired president Uhuru Kenyatta, and KANU’s Gideon Moi to rally support for his vision.
“I will continue to engage all leaders until we come together so that we can make this country a first-world country in our lifetime. It is possible. I am persuaded that we are going to do it by God’s grace,” Ruto affirmed.

What did Ruto tell critics of his projects?
He also addressed critics who have questioned the feasibility of his promises, asserting that some of his initiatives are already taking shape.
During his 2022 campaigns, the president introduced the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which has been a key driver of his progress, highlighting efforts such as the affordable housing programme and youth and women empowerment through loans and community projects.
Despite these efforts, his administration has faced criticism over unfulfilled promises and ongoing protests from sectors including education, health, and governance.
Nonetheless, Ruto remains confident that with collective effort and sustained leadership, Kenya can achieve first-world status within the next three decades.
