“I have been avoiding this because talking about it means I get to relive one of the most horrific experiences in my life, which is not easy. I figured that maybe sharing this story might save someone’s life. If you can learn from some of the mistakes I did that would be great. I did not know better, and those are some of the things I have had to learn and to forgive myself for,” she said.

The TikToker said she was confident about meeting the man for a date, knowing her cousin would be present.

“Not threatening, average looking, average height. So he comes to visit my cousin, and he finds me there and starts asking about me, and that is how we set up the date. We agree that we would go out the three of us. He, my cousin, and I. That gave me the confidence to go out,” she said.

Wangari learnt that her cousin would not join them hours later after trying to call him but he never responded.

“He was mteja… conveniently so. As a businessperson, they always have their phone on. My gut feeling told me that something was off. It’s always on. Trust your gut instincts if something feels off just leave,” she advised people,” she said.

The man suggested they leave for a second location, and although she was sceptical, she followed the plan.

What did Kate Actress say?

Wangari was on the couch, and he was trying to strangle her with her belt.

“He was shocked to see me awake. I hold on to the belt with all my might thank God it was a cheap one,” she added.

She fought him off, and luckily, the belt broke and she was able to run to the rooftop then hid next to a water tank.

The man searched for her, then he gave up and went back to his house.

While knocking on his neighbour’s door, she saw him throwing her items out the window.

She rushed to pick them, then called her sister, who promised to pick her up in Nairobi CBD. Wangari later reported the matter.

Kate Actress reacting to the story, congratulated her for speaking up.

“Oh dear Wangari, I applaud you for the courage,” she shared.
