President William Ruto has responded to criticism from his former ally, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who has attacked the government’s key initiatives, including the Affordable Housing Project and the Nyota Youth Programme.

Speaking at the launch of Phase One of the Infrastructure and Smart City facilities at Konza Technopolis, Ruto stated that critics of the projects are making empty statements, as they have no credible alternatives.
The president called the Kenya Kwanza government initiative the foundation of his administration’s economic transformation agenda.

“If you are a leader who has a different plan and policy that is better than the one that the government is offering, then tell us. Don’t say that you plan to stop the Affordable Housing Programme.
“If William Ruto wants to do a million houses. Tell us how we are going to do two million or three million. Don’t tell us you are going to bring down what William Ruto is doing,” Ruto said.
The Nyota Programme aims to empower vulnerable youth by offering vocational training, entrepreneurship opportunities, and financial assistance.
Did Ndindi Nyoro criticise Ruto’s Nyota Programme?
This comes a day after the Kiharu MP questioned the government programs, describing them as misplaced priorities.
The outspoken legislator, who once chaired the Parliament’s Budget and Appropriations Committee, argued that the funds used are borrowed from the World Bank, but have had little impact on the country.
He warned that the country’s debt has risen by more than KSh 1 trillion in just eight months, alleging that much of the borrowed funds are spent on non-existent programs, including stadiums and other stalled projects.
“I would like to request that this money, which the government has borrowed to be used to assist the youth. Instead of giving them 50,000, they should be given KSh 100,000 so they could start sustainable businesses,” Nyoro said.
He stated that the government can’t fully assist the youth with borrowed money that is constantly being misused.
Ruto says govt critics have no agenda
The head of state has always defended his administration from critics.
On February 27, Ruto called out his critics, urging them to develop alternative sustainable plans that would develop the country’s economy.

He further asserted the importance of focusing on addressing the challenges facing the country’s citizens.
Ruto told his critics to stop focusing on making him a one-term president, emphasising that leadership is determined by God.
He stated that citizens are not interested in divisive politics but rather politics that drive the country’s development.
