The media personality noted that they might be courageous while standing next to Raila’s coffin, but deep down, there was unimaginable pain.
He shared that people mourned differently, and some in private.
“You would see either his child, brother, wife or uncle laughing with people… you would think they can laugh when a coffin is right there, but you do not know the pain they feel. People mourn differently,” he said.
Machoka admitted that he never expected Raila to pass away, and as a man, he knew he would be strong after learning of his death.
The radio presenter admitted that he broke down when he saw Winnie handing over her father’s hat to her mother after flying back from India.
Winnie was the child tasked with staying with her father while he received medication in India.
Upon her arrival, she was carrying her father’s synonymous fedora hat, and she handed it over to her mum.
“I was thinking as a man, yes, I knew him, and I never expected him to die and I can be strong… What finished me was when I saw Winnie carrying her father’s hat and bringing it to her mum. I don’t know,,, it was deep. This girl went to India…,” he said amidst tears.
