An ODM lawmaker has revealed Raila Odinga’s reaction to the death rumours that swirled on social media concerning his health after many noted his absence from the limelight earlier this month, before his death.

At the beginning of October, curious Kenyans wondered if Raila was okay, forcing Ida to speak about her husband’s health, with Oburu later confirming that the ODM leader was receiving treatment in India.

Millie Odhiambo is now revealing that Raila was well aware of the death rumours that emerged while he was in India.

According to Millie, Raila told her that he was surprised that some people in Kenya had already ‘killed me in Kenya and have already buried me’.

In her speech, the Suba North MP forgave those who spread such innuendos, but added that she will never forget their indiscretions.

“Baba told me that we need to be united as a party. Baba also told me jokingly,’ I am even surprised that there are people who have killed me in Kenya and have already buried me.’ I want to tell you that for those who killed Baba before his time, we forgive you, but we will never forget,” she said.

Millie’s last chat with Raila

Millie narrated that when she last phoned her party leader, he informed her that he was doing fine and was even walking around.

“He told me ‘I am fine, infact in the morning I walked around’,” Millie remembered.

Millie, who was a passionate supporter of the ODM boss, also vehemently thanked those who stood by him in his career and last days.

“We shall never forget. I want to thank you, President Ruto. You may not understand. Some of us may look strong, but when the news broke, I was at State House, and the president broke the news as we sat around a table. And the longest journey I’ve ever walked, if you don’t know, was from your office at State House to my car. I almost collapsed twice,” she said.

“My sweetheart, my lovely ichungwa, someone who understands me, nyaber, nyamalo, wave to them, sweetheart,” he said before giving her a peck on the forehead.

He paid a special tribute to his father.
