A popular senator has been thrown into mourning after losing two close family members within just 48 hours.

According to reports by Legit.ng, Nigeria’s Senate minority leader, Patrick Abba Moro, lost his son and grandson in two separate tragic incidents.

The senator represents Zone C in Nigeria’s north-central region.

How did Senator Abba’s son die?

Reports indicate that Abba’s son, Victor Moro, died in a road accident along the Mararaba axis in Nasarawa State shortly after returning to Nigeria from Turkey, where he had completed his studies.

He is said to have been travelling to the family home when the accident occurred.

Victor was reportedly preparing to begin his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme when the tragedy struck.

According to The Punch, Victor’s death came barely two days after the burial of Abba’s grandson, identified as Aba Moro Junior.

The young boy, aged 10, is said to have died under unclear circumstances, with details surrounding his passing yet to be made public.

The former president of the Senate of Nigeria, Abubakar Bukola, shared his condolences in a touching message to Senator Abba.

He wrote:

“To lose a grandson, and then, only days later, a son, is a pain no family should ever have to bear. This double bereavement is a deeply difficult moment for the Senate Minority Leader, Distinguished Senator Abba Moro, his wife, and their family. Toyin and I extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences, and pray that the Almighty will strengthen them, comfort them, and surround them with His peace through this very dark season.”
