Kiharu MP Indindi Nyoro came under fire on the X social network after his tweet about General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo was revived.
Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti, is a prominent Sudanese military figure who leads the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
He is known to have played a key role in Sudan’s recent political turmoil, particularly in the violent clashes between the RSF and the Sudanese national army.
Hemedti faces serious allegations of directing atrocities during the civil unrest, including acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing.
Little might have been known about him before the upheaval in Khartoum.
Nyoro had even sent a tweet in 2023 seeming to praise Hemedti just when tension leading up to the prevalent chaos was buillding up.
“Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), the commander of RFS. We are African and Africa is our business,” read Nyoro’s tweet.
With the situation getting out of hand years later, Hemedti became the villain in the matter.
The crisis erupted from a fierce rivalry between General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan of the SAF and General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, who leads the RSF.
Clashes ignited in Khartoum and rapidly engulfed the nation, escalating into a devastating civil war.
The conflict has resulted in widespread loss of life, forced displacement, and grave allegations of war crimes such as genocide and ethnic cleansing.
