Speaking during the ODM delegates meeting in Mombasa on Saturday, November 1, Sifuna hit out at Ruto for claiming that Raila Odinga was his only competitor in the 2027 polls.

Can ODM members defeat Ruto in 2027 polls?

Sifuna stated that ODM members were groomed by Raila, and thus each of them has the capacity to defeat Ruto in the highly anticipated polls.

Edwin Sifuna says Oburu Oginga will win against William Ruto in 2027 if he vies for presidency

“If we decide to front our party leader in 2027, people are going to go home. If we decide to choose Abdulswamad or other deputy party leaders, we are going to win the elections. If you say that you, SG, should run for the presidency, we are going to win those elections very early in the morning,” he said

He further expressed his disappointment with Ruto’s remarks, stating that ODM party members have the same traits as the deceased political veteran.

“I hear that there are people who are saying that Raila was their only competitor. There is someone who has told us that the child of a lion is a lion. They are going to be very surprised,” Sifuna argued.

He continued his attack on Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza government, stating that he is aware of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that ODM signed with UDA.

He argued that he is very familiar with what is in the MoU because he took part in writing it.

“I wrote a statement in the MoU stating that the agreement does not constitute a coalition agreement with UDA. It is there. Ruto and Baba signed it,” Sifuna said.

Sifuna made his remarks after Ruto seemingly downplayed the United Opposition. He told the team led by the former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, and the Wiper Patriotic Front party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, that they need to look for an agenda.

Ruto stated that policies that bring about change in the country are what people are looking for, asserting that saying wantam was not enough.

Did Sifuna tell off Kithure Kindiki?

During the same event, the Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki, was not spared. Sifuna also told him off as he accused him of confusing voters.

However, Sifuna asserted that there is no such thing as broad-based candidates.
