Nairobi – Detectives have launched investigations following the murder of a 75-year-old woman in Githurai 44.

Radio 47 reported that Monica Wanja was found dead in her house moments after a domestic fight with her husband on Saturday, November 1.

Who killed Monica Wanja in Githurai 44?

Preliminary investigations indicate Wanja was found lying in a pool of blood hours after she had fought with her husband over unclear reasons.

According to the police report, neighbours heard commotions in the house before alerting the police, who arrived only to find the elderly woman in a pool of blood.

The 74-year-old woman had multiple injuries on her body, including on the right thigh, right wrist, chin and right upper arm, a clear sign that there were struggle moments before she died.

At the scene of the crime, police found a bloodied dagger believed to be the murder weapon and kept it as an exhibit.

Detectives arrested Wanja’s husband, aged 75, and he is being detained at Kasarani Police Station before his arraignment on Monday, November 3.

The body of the elderly woman was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy to establish the cause of her death.

Machakos mum speaks after daughter’s killing

In a separate incident, Josephine Ndunda, the mother of a young woman reportedly stabbed to death by her alleged husband, spoke out.

The Machakos mum revealed that her daughter, Virginia Wayua Nzioki, was set to join university in January 2026.

Ndunda recounted the chilling phone call she received from the suspect, who allegedly sent her disturbing photos.

The suspect, William Kaia, allegedly committed the offence on Tuesday, September 9, in Kariobangi, Machakos.

Witnesses praised the police for their response but were left shattered by the loss of life.

KBC reports that Susan was an employee of Inspire Credits, and she was going to work when she met her untimely death at the hands of her lover.

It emerged that the suspect had hidden knives and a panga in preparation for the heinous act that took away the woman’s life forever.
