India: At least 20 people had lost their lives and approximately 24 others sustained injuries in a devastating road crash on Monday, November 3.

The tragic incident, involving a passenger bus and a truck, occurred near Chevalla town in southern India’s Telangana state.

How did the Telangana crash happen?

The truck, loaded with concrete stone chips, was travelling from the opposite direction when it rammed into a bus carrying around 70 passengers en route to Hyderabad city.

According to ABC News, the impact of the collision was severe, with the front of the bus badly mangled and trapped several passengers inside.

“The gravel from the truck fell into the bus after the collision happened. This aggravated the situation and caused more casualties,” said a Hyderabad police officer at the scene.

Heaps of stone chips were dumped inside the bus, burying at least one passenger alive, who was later confirmed dead.

Rajendra Prasad, superintendent of the Chevalla Hospital, confirmed that 20 bodies were moved to the mortuary and would be handed over to their families after verification.

Did college siblings die in the Telangana crash?

Among the deceased were the drivers of both vehicles and three college-going siblings from Tandur town.

Their grieving father, Yellaiah Goud, was inconsolable.

“What will I do without my daughters?” he lamented, surrounded by mourning relatives.

Radha, the bus conductor, recalled the moment of impact.

“There was an ear-shattering noise when the truck hit the bus,” she said.

Radha sustained head injuries and was admitted into the nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities launched an investigation into the cause of the crash as the rescue teams worked through the wreckage to assist survivors and recover bodies.

Meanwhile, a viral video circulating on social media captured the wreckage and chaos that followed.

Elsewhere, a woman lost her life in a tragic morning crash near Spotlight Hotel on the outskirts of Kitui town.

According to reports, Emmah was in the company of her husband and three others when their vehicle encountered a stationary car on the road.

In an attempt to avoid impact, the driver swerved sharply and lost control and the vehicle rolled multiple times down a slope.

Unfortunately, the mother of two young children was thrown out during the chaos and sustained severe head injuries.

She was rushed to Kitui County Referral Hospital and later transferred to Machakos Level 5 Hospital for emergency surgery. However, despite efforts by doctors, she passed away in the ICU.
