The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a new seven-day weather forecast showing continued rainfall across much of the country between November 4 and 10.

In a statement signed by acting director Edward Muriuki, the department said the rains are expected to persist in several regions, with the highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria basin, the Rift Valley, the Coastal strip, South-Eastern lowlands, and parts of North-Eastern Kenya likely to experience heavy downpours.
According to the forecast, the coastal and northern regions will continue recording daytime temperatures above 30°C, while night-time lows below 10°C are expected in the Central Highlands, Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Regional weather outlook for the next 7 days across Kenya
- Highlands West of the Rift Valley and Lake Victoria Basin: Morning sunshine will dominate early in the week, followed by afternoon showers and thunderstorms, especially in counties such as Kakamega, Kisumu, Bomet, Kericho, and Elgeyo Marakwet.
- North-Western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu): Predominantly sunny, though scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected later in the week.
- Highlands East of the Rift Valley (Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, Nairobi, Meru, Embu): Cloudy mornings and occasional showers will give way to sunny afternoons, with rains likely to intensify toward the end of the forecast period.
- North-Eastern Kenya (Mandera, Marsabit, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo): Light morning rains and isolated afternoon showers are expected throughout the week.
- South-Eastern Lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Taita-Taveta): Rains are expected to spread to several areas, with occasional night showers predicted midweek onward.
- Coastal Region (Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale): Scattered morning, afternoon, and evening showers will continue, with increased intensity later in the week.
The department added that rainfall recorded over the past week was widespread, with many regions reporting reduced daytime temperatures and slightly warmer nights.

Concerns over landslides, floods amid increasing rains in Kenya
The ongoing rains have raised fears of more landslides in vulnerable areas such as Elgeyo Marakwet, where weeks of heavy rainfall have already caused multiple fatalities.
The unstable terrain in parts of the Kerio Valley remains at high risk as the downpours continue.
TUKO.co.ke previously reported that a series of landslides and rockfalls witnessed in the county have left 30 people dead, with 21 still missing.
Authorities have urged residents in hilly regions to remain alert and report any signs of ground movement.
The Interior Ministry, together with local disaster response units, urged residents in unsafe areas to vacate as they continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further loss of life.
