The drama between the two lawmakers traces back to the burial ceremony of former prime minister Raila Odinga, who passed away on October 15.

What happened between Olekina and Nyamu?

During the solemn event, Olekina was tasked with introducing members of the Senate to mourners.

For most colleagues, Olekina flawlessly introduced them, but when it came to Nyamu, he pretended to forget her name.

Nyamu’s stunned reaction was visible, though Olekina later admitted he was only joking.

However, the damage was already done, as mourners momentarily burst out in laughter, with many wondering how he could forget the name of one of the most famous lawmakers in the country.

How did Nyamu respond to Olekina?

Nyamu got her chance to strike back during a Senate session on November 5.

While addressing the house business, Olekina quipped that he now remembered Nyamu’s name, unlike at Raila’s burial.

However, Nyamu was ready quickly, raising a point of order, citing Standing Order 41:

“My point of order is under Standing Order 41. We are just two senators in the house; we do not have quorum,” she said with a sly smile.

Sharing the moment on Facebook, she wrote:

“Felt so good being petty by interrupting Ledama. Session adjourned till tomorrow. Let’s just say he didn’t see the payback moment coming.”
