Pauline Williams’ mailbox full

“We have not been good neighbors,” he said remorsefully, his face filled with sorrow.

Williams’ mailbox was full, and her backyard was overgrown with weeds, showing it had not been tended to for a long time.

Police said they were looking for the deceased’s kin in hopes of finding answers about what could have led to Williams’ death.

“I think that was the shocking part of it. It reminds me to check on my neighbors a little bit more frequently, to be friendly, and to hope that doesn’t happen to you one day,” Austin Mathews said.

Joyce Vann:

“This is a generational issue we, as seniors, often discuss with other seniors. The majority today seldom hear from their kids or grandkids. We get it, they’re busy adulting with jobs, kids, and obligations of their own. We know we could literally be dead in our home for days on end and not be missed.”

Azure Bradger:

“It’s sad that the only reason anyone came looking for her was because she defaulted on her mortgage and the house was sold to someone else who didn’t expect to even find her.”

Karen Gaither:

“I saw the news, and they didn’t mention the house had been foreclosed on. Maybe in foreclosure, you’re buying on courthouse steps, so no pictures from the realtor and no inspection. I guess she passed away, and that could be why she didn’t pay her bills and the home was foreclosed on.”

Shawn RaChel Godfrey:

“Family wants privacy now that she’s dead, but they didn’t care enough to check while she was alive.”
