The incident has gone viral online as it relates to a common feeling of frustration: that of government official vehicles defying the law as the most powerful.

Kenyans online were impressed by the daring nature of Mbugua, as they hailed him as someone who stood up against what they perceive to be a systematic ignorance towards average road users.

Some netizens hailed the actor as a hero and others discussed the possibility of his actions leading to a face-off.

Mbugua, as a media personality, has developed an image of being disciplined and principled, owing to his strict and uncompromising nature in the office as a judge on TPF.

This reputation is in line with his decision to fight the government car.

If you watched Mbugua back in the day, it is no doubt you still have memories of his cut-throat persona with the TPF contestants.

His no-nonsense attitude in the talent shows appears to have been transferred into real life, where he does not fear to take a stand against what he feels is wrong.

Although obstructing a government vehicle would provoke legal consequences, Mbugua at the moment seemed to be thinking of only one thing: justice.

The incident has brought back the demand to enforce the traffic laws more strictly, even on government officials.

Netizens react to Mbugua’s bold move

@Ja_Kamnara:

“Na saa hio driver ni mfanyikazi tu. Where do they get the entitlement to flaunt traffic rules anyway? Alafu ukipelekwa court ata mdosi hataki story zako, DL points sio za mdosi pia.”

@kiliambiti:

“That govt driver should adhere to Judge Ian’s rules of Tusker baada ya Kazi not Tusker badala ya kazi.”

@JoelKamiru:

“They think that since they drive GK they own Kenya and behave as if they are above the law. We should see this more often. Citizen policing since the @NPSOfficial_KE are corrupt and incompetent.”
